找了任学姐做了这个简短的经验帖，非常感谢。英国谢菲尔德大学硕士（urban design＋MLA）。

Urban design专业设在SSOA 也就是谢大建筑学院虽然隶属建筑但是对landscape 或者planning 背景的申请者没有限制。专业对于城市关系再利用改造等等方面进行考量, 总体来说是相当social science 的一个专业。对于urban designer 的定义可参见, ‘It has been increasingly recognized that urban design and urban designers form the long neglected yet crucial link that can mediate between individual architectural projects and overall planning strategies.’总体来说urban design 作业以分析思考为主，表达工具方面没有太严苛的要求。课程行进过程和大多数建筑和景观类专业一样，以分小组进行，每个小组4 人左右组成workshop，只有最后从6 月底左右开始的thesis 是个人进行。课程设置上以完成不同的project 为主线，基本一个学期2 个projects 左右。理论课设有participation, urban history 和reflection on urban design。

总体而言，中国学生对这个专业的适应比较困难，大致因为国内的设计是纯设计，对于效果的渴求明显，而urban design 更乐意看到学生对social relation 的思考—低能耗，低费用，高利用率，社区关系等等。这里继续quote：“The course draws strongly on the Sheffield School of Architecture’s intellectual ethos, which emphasises social and environmental responsibilities in relation to the design and production of the built environment.”

Urban师资和部分workshop 和MAAD, MARCH 等系共享。和招生时对背景学科的宽容一样, Urban 毕业的学生并不具有太强的专业性, 这也使得毕业后的就业面比较广, 建筑设计，景观，规划等都是可能的选择。谢大景观MLA 学位是本科+硕士的连接课程，要求本科就在谢大,硕士直升，第一年的课程为实践，第二年照常硕士课程。课程描述为：The undergraduate courses are `Integrated Masters’ programmes, in which students spend 3 years studying Landscape Architecture to gain a BA(Hons) or BSc(Hons) degree. If you decide to continue your training in Landscape Architecture you will work in a Landscape practice for your fourth year before returning for the 5th year MLA course.

也就是说你可以选择：1) 在第三年末拿到本科学位完成学习；2) 申请year4 实践+一年硕士课程完成MLA 学位。值得注意的是这个学位提供与建筑学院的交叉课程，最终你可以获得uk 唯一景观建筑学双认证的学位.

对于国际学生开放的Postgraduate taught 有三种课程：两年课程的MA in landscape architecture，一年的landscape studies 和landscape management. MA Landscape architecture 和 MA Landscape studies 两个专业第一年的课程一致; MA Landscape management 人不多，课程在MA Landscape architecture 第二年课程中选择景观管理相关的课程. MA landscape architecture 第二年的课程以大型的project 为导向：Professional Practice, Law and Contracts; Landscape Design and Art Practice/Urban Landscape Planning/Greenspace Maintenance; Rural Landscape Planning/ Urban Design Project/Greenspace Management; Research Report; and a self-directed Special Project which may specialise in one of landscape design, planning or management, or may take a cross-cutting approach. Candidates for the MA also write a 10,000 word Dissertation.
