揭开英国爱丁堡大学和艺术学院ECA的神秘面纱

楼主在ECA读MLA,现在是第一年,所以还不能算过来人。最近有好多娃在纠结选校来问各种问题~楼主也曾纠结过啦,于是考虑破坏一下学姐学长们一直维持的低调风气…集中回答一下常见问题,提供一些接受offer前学校官网上查不到的信息。欢迎同僚们补充。
[b] 0申请概况[/b]
ECA的MLA是一个接受各个专业背景申请的两年课程。每年学生不会超过20人。最近几届基本上会来4~5个中国人。当然它发offer不可能只发这个数啦,应该会多发一倍吧。听老师说我那届有60个左右中国申请,这届有将近90个。主要还是看作品集。人特别多作品集大差不差的情况下可能也会看看学校吧。不过楼主猜测,考量天朝学校对老师来说是个烦神的事情。楼主记得和导师谈话时她说过她大概知道中国的景观本科教育往往和这里的很不一样…
关于有同学问语言班:我那届因为刚和爱大合并,ECA语言班取消,雅思没到6.5或者单项低于6(托福是单项不能低于20)的童鞋就完全没有机会了。现在据说又可以申请爱丁堡大学的语言班了,不过每年的名额非常有限,爱大那么多专业,所以还是申请时语言达标安全

这个应该是最要关心的,粘帖一下第一年开的课的reading list~这样大伙也能看到开哪些课和这里课程体系的偏向啦(太久没来寄托发现不好发图嘛!!)但是这个只是个Indicative Bibliography,象征性的…其实到时候每次作业都会有自己的书单,list会比这长

ECA的MLA的课程是有英国Landscape Institute的认证的。但是这当然不意味着上了学了就能拿景观师资格证= =这种证当然是要自己考的!!就像米国的ASLA资格认证和咱们的建造师认证一样是要考好几年的
[b] 4关于爱大[/b]
楼主当年申ECA的时候并不知道它会和爱大合并,想申它完全是因为被台湾人出的“学设计名校100”“學設計,非去不可”的书蛊惑囧…带着某种幼稚的小众情结…
不过收到offer以后知道这个事了,然后查了下爱大的世界排名,这一年正好挺进20,爱大骄傲的把这个挂在首页= =…目前其他方面没什么感觉,之所以会这么高个人觉得是它校友资源累积的比较好吧,因此每个专业各种合作项目似乎都比较多,校友回来的讲座也能让在校生受益
合并除了学生卡变成蓝色、传论文要通过my-ed系统,没啥大不同。ECA会继续保持自己的品牌和教学方法。景观的话是合并以前生态课和地理课就是在爱大上。
[b] 5学习生活闲扯[/b]
哪里学景观都应该很忙啦。每天都有课,生活很充实
个人目前感触比较深的是设计课和结构课。虽然后来会逐渐提出生态的要求,这里的设计课以开始还是以探讨空间为主,并且以后也会一直强调。
结构课这学期每个专题都会有一家景观材料供应商来做演讲。铺装、灯具、屋顶花园材料什么的,换位思考很有意思。
爱丁堡的景观事务所有gross max,之前在一套国际新锐景观事务所丛书里有看到。不过我也是来了以后才知道它在爱丁堡。结构课有位老师是那里的,比较犀利,楼主总是感到被鄙视……
植物课每节课都在爱丁堡的皇家植物园里上。地理课会爬亚瑟王座。所有的课都有各种城里城外的field trip,几乎足以让你对爱丁堡这个著名旅游城市的各个景点失去感觉哈
然后ECA也是个还可以的艺术学院啦,看着学服装学音乐学纯艺的各种同学晃来晃去也挺欢乐的…楼主今年报了插画的open course,学插画的朋友报了玻璃设计的……爱大也有各种开放课程……价格合理……让充实到崩溃的生活再充实一点吧……
