As a research and teaching unit at HKU, the JMSC offers undergraduate and graduate degrees through the Faculty of Social Sciences. Applicants will have excellent English language skills and an aptitude for academic research, particularly quantitative research. Chinese language skills and experience in public health or business and finance research or writing will be an asset. A first degree in journalism or communication is not required. Successful applicants will commence their studies full-time in January 2006. Applicants with a first degree with second class honours first division (or equivalent) or above are eligible for studentships, valued at HK$12,500(approx. US$1,600) per month in 2005-2006. Postgraduate students also enjoy medical/dental benefits and the use of recreational facilities.
